Drone Soccer Rules
OFFICIAL RULES BY FIDA: FEDERATION OF INTERNATIONAL DRONE SOCCER ASSOCIATION
THE BASICS
Each team consists of five players and five drone balls per team.
A player shall only control one drone soccer ball. Only the striker can score.
When a striker's drone ball passes completely from front to back into the opponents goal, it is admitted as a goal.
The defense's aim is to block all actions that the opponent team take to make it easier for the striker to score.
POSITIONS
The Five Positions are:
Guide- An attacker who runs past the opponent’s defense
Striker- A drone that scores through the opponent’s goal
Only the Striker can score
Libero- Similar to a midfielder, the libero plays both defence and offence depending on the game plan.
Sweeper- The final defence to block the opponents attack
Keeper- Preventing the opponent from scoring in front of the goal.
MATCHES
A Drone Soccer match is played in three sets of three minutes.
Between each set, teams have 5 minutes to make repairs and changes.
The total duration of a Drone Soccer match is about 30 minutes.
The team that wins the most sets wins the game. In the case of a game already won at the end of the second set, the third set will be played for ranking purposes. In the case of a set tied, the winner of this set will be determined by an extension in sudden death (the first to score wins).
Offside
A goal will not be counted if the player is offside at the time or if the drone ball is bounced back after failing to pass completely. To clear the offside situation, all players must return to their team's area behind the half line.
Penalties
Penalty awards are given incase of ignoring offside rules, passing own goal in reverse direction, and receiving more than 2 warnings from the referee. Warnings are reset in the next game. Penalty Kick Method: 1:1 match between Striker and Keeper. Duration- 5 seconds per every penalty taken from the half-line. Multiple goals can be scored.
Defense
While defending in front of its own team's goal, the defence can pass through its own team's goal from front to back but not in the reverse direction.
